Mumbai Indians Women beat Delhi Capitals Women to become the first WPL Champions 

Match Highlights: WOWOWW what a final it has been for the fans to enjoy for the rest of the night as Mumbai Indians become the first-ever TATA Women’s Premier League Champions. 

It was an exceptional performance by Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav with the bat towards the end but Mumbai Indians came out to bat with only one intention and that was to win. Delhi also did not give up as they picked up the early wicket of Yastika Bhatia in the second over of the second innings. 

Early on in the Innings 

All of the traffic was going one way after MI-W previously forced their opponents back. Shafali received criticism for awarding a slightly high full-toss that she cut in the air. Issy Wong had an unlucky night, but he still managed to destroy the top order by grabbing three wickets from full deliveries.

With the final wicket stand, which produced 52 runs from 24 balls, DEL-W has been given a lifeline. For Delhi, Shikha Pandey made a pivotal cameo at the conclusion of the first inning to score significant runs. She needed 17 balls to score 27 runs. 

Star Players of the Match 

The star performer was Hayley Matthews, who took wickets swiftly to destroy the Delhi players and gave up just 5 runs in her four overs. Issy Wong also took three wickets and carried over her performance from the previous game into this one. Delhi Capitals were destroyed by Mumbai for 131 runs in 20 overs thanks to Melie Kerr’s two wickets.

Mumbai stay strong in the chase 

After the two early wickets in the form of Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia but Mumbai did not lose their hope as the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt held their ground and build the partnership of 72 runs to help Mumbai come close to the target.

Nat Sciver-Brunt once again proved to be a match-winner as she played a match-winning knock to take Mumbai over the line with her amazing half-century. She scored 60 runs from 55 balls to kill the game for Delhi Capitals. Melie Kerr also gave the valuable support, in the end, to help Mumbai cross the line, She scored 14 runs from 8 balls.
