MR-W vs BH-W Match Highlights: Hobart Hurricanes Women defeated Melbourne Renegades women by eight wickets to win the game. Hobart has nine points after eight games, placing it in fifth place right now. Hobart has played in four victories, three defeats, and one tie.

First Innings

After winning the toss Hobart Hurricanes Women decided to bowl first, batting first Hayley Matthews and Athapaththu came on to bat for the Melbourne Renegades. Hayley started off in a style but was later dismissed by Heather Graham in the 5th over. However, Melbourne Renegades lost their first wicket in the second over.

Poor Batting Performance by Melbourne Renegades

Melbourne Renegades were poor with the batting as they failed once again to put up a decent target to defend. The Hobart bowlers were on point once again, where Heather Graham picked up two wickets in three overs. Amy Smith, Nicola Carey and Ruth Johnston picked up one wicket each to dismiss Melbourne Renegades for 80 runs in 17.2 overs.

Courtney Webb gave a little bit of hope when she came on to bat but later was dismissed for 30 runs by Amy Smith. Webb scored 30 runs from 36 balls, including two fours.

Hobart’s easy chance to win the match

With an easy target of 82 to change from 20 overs, Hobart Hurricanes came on to bat with Villani, Wicketkeeper Lee where they gave a good start but lost the first wicket in the second over. Molineux picked up the first wicket in the form of Lee. Lee scored 10 runs from 6 balls.

Captains Knock

Hobart’s hopes of winning the game handily were increased by captain Villani’s 41 runs in 34 balls. Villani had a strike rate of 120.59 and five goals. Villani was instrumental in successfully pursuing the goal.

Heather Graham played an anchor’s innings, where she scored 23 runs from 19 balls. Heather and Villani both the batsman made sure that they chase down the target without any trouble. Hobart chase downed the target in 10.4 overs with the loss of two wickets.

The lone bowler for Melbourne who took two wickets but had little effect on the field was Molineux. As a result, the Hobart Hurricanes easily won the game.

What’s next?

Hobart Hurricanes will face Adelaide Strikers on 11th November (Friday). Melbourne Renegades will face Sydney Sixers on 10th November (Thursday).
