Canterbury’s Decent Efforts
Canterbury Kings had an awful start to their innings, with their first two wickets falling under 3 overs for a score of just 14 runs. Mitchell and McConchie attempted a recovery, adding 59 for the fourth wicket, but both were dismissed in consecutive overs.
McConchie was run out by a direct hit from captain Bruce, while Mitchell was caught off a full toss by Toby Findlay, falling four runs short of fifty. Blair Tickner, although only claiming one wicket, was exceptional, conceding just 17 runs from four overs. Findlay and Brett Randell took five of the Kings’ eight wickets, finishing strong.
Central Districts Triumph
Will Young started their chase with high spirits, although Jack Boyle was dismissed without providing further support. After his wicket Dane Cleaver, played the match-winning innings, scoring 43 off 34 balls. This helped the Central Districts chase target of, as Canterbury Kings Super Smash final curse continued as they lost their fifth consecutive decider, this time to the Central Stags. This is Northern Districts first title in six years. Canterbury hasn’t won the T20 title since 2006, and last season, rain handed Auckland the crown.
