Ashutosh Sharma is an Indian cricketer born in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh on 15 September 1998.

Sharma moved to Indore from Ratlam to give wings to his cricketing career when he was only 8-years old, but that move did not favoured him much.

He used to do umpiring to earn some money.

That was a very tough time for Ashutosh as he lived in a small room and didn’t have the money to sustain himself.

Despite some decent performances four years back, Sharma was left out from the team.

“I would go to the gym and retire to my hotel room. I was sinking into depression, and no one told me what my fault was. A new coach had joined Madhya Pradesh and he had strong likes and dislikes and despite scoring 90 odds in 45 balls in a trial match, I was dropped from the team,” said Ashutosh to reporters.

He further added “I had three fifties in six Mushtaq Ali games in the previous season, yet I wouldn’t even be allowed to go to the ground. I was very depressed.”

He was not even sure about his career during 2020-2022.

A job, however, from Railways helped him recover a bit from depression before the game came and that changed his life completely.

Sharma struck an 11-ball 50 for Railways in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2023 to break Yuvraj Singh’s fastest fifty in T20 cricket.

Sanjay Banger, the batting coach of Punjab Kings, noticed his efforts and the PBKS acquired his services for INR 20 Lakhs in IPL 2024 mini auction.
