During the first test match against South Africa in Visakhapatnam, India’s spin king Ravichandran Ashwin joined Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan as the quickest bowler to 350 Test wickets.

FULL SCORECARD

The off-spinner bowled overnight batsman Theunis de Bruyn to reach the landmark in his 66th test for 10 early in the morning session on day five.

Muralitharan also took 350 wickets for the same number of matches. The spin king has finished his career with 800 wickets and retired in the year 2010.

In the first innings of the match in Vizag, 33-year- old Ashwin, who returned to the Indian XI after playing against Australia last year, claimed 7/145. It’s been his 27th five-fold haul.

Ashwin was the first bowler to cross the landmark of 300 Test wickets earlier in November 2017. He broke the record of Dennis Lillee’s Australian pace ace by achieving the feat in just 54 matches.
