Sunil Chhetri reserves special praise for Virat Kohli’s ’71st century’

Virat Kohli’s 71st century

Indian football super Sunil Chhetri was in awe of cricketer Virat Kohli’s magnificent ton in the Asia Cup against Afghanistan and he took to social media to express his appreciation for the Indian batsman. Here in this article we have talked on Virat Kohli’s 71st century.

As soon as Kohli launched the ball for a six to complete his 71st century, Chhetri just couldn’t stop praising the former Indian captain as he took to his twitter account and wrote, “You can delay class all you want to, don’t even think of denying it. That ton? Worth it’s weight in gold. That smile? Priceless. Shine on, champ. @iamVkohli”

Indian posted a massive 212 for the loss of 2 wickets, all thanks to Kohli’s century.

The ex-Indian skipper smashed an unbeaten 122 runs off just 61 deliveries with the help of 12 fours and 6 sixers.

Several cricket players, both current and retired, took to social media to share their reactions to Kohli’s emotional, much-anticipated century.

Ab De Villiers, one of Kohli’s best friends tweeted, “@imVkohli dancing again! What a lovely sight. When I spoke to him yesterday I knew something was brewing. Well played my friend.”

Sri Lanka Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne said, “Form is temporary but class is permanent, well played @imVkohli”

In the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, Kohli was asked to open the innings alongside acting captain KL Rahul. The pair put India in the driving seat and placed Afghanistan under immediate pressure with an amazing 119-run stand.

In the early going of the innings, Kohli batted with a solid strike rate, and in the slog overs, he just shifted into fifth gear to crush Afghanistan’s bowling lineup. The run-machine Kohli also overtook Rohit Sharma (118) as the highest individual-scorer for India in T20Is with his 122-run knock.

Kohli became the fourth Indian player after Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul to score hundreds in all three forms.

With his century, Kohli equalled Ricky Ponting as the second-highest century-maker in world cricket and is now just behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
