Star allrounder Ellyse Perry was ruled out of the opening match of the three-match T20I series against New Zealand at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Saturday (26 September).During the Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year, the 29-year-old tore her hamstring and has been on the road to recovery since then, with the objective of being fit for the home summer. Lanning, the Australian captain, said ahead of the series opener, “She’s still working through her return-to-play plan.” The minimal involvement of Perry in this week’s training sessions suggested that she might not be a starter for the T20I series, a fact confirmed by the Australian skipper.
