🕒 4 min read

The Australian leg-spinner Kristen Beams had announced retirement from all forms of the cricket on December 1ST. Having moved from Tasmania to Victoria early on to forge a career, she represented Australia in 1 Test, Thirty One-Day Internationals and 18 Twenty20 Internationals.

The 35-year-old pacer made her Australian debut in August 2014. She played her first T20I in September 2014 against Pakistan. The only Test she played in was the Ashes of 2015, returning 62 wickets across formats.

Kevin Roberts, CEO of Cricket Australia said: “We congratulate Kristen Beams on a terrific career both for Australia and her adopted home state of Victoria and are so grateful for the contribution she has made on and off the field.”

“She’s been a wonderful ambassador of the game, always willing to go the extra mile to inspire the next generation of cricketers as well as having had a significant impact in the all abilities space. Kristen has held a number of off-field roles within cricket and we hope to see her face around the game for years to come. We thank Kristen for her service to cricket and wish her all the best for the future.”

She represented Victoria for 14 years, even skippering the Melbourne Stars in the WBBL (Women’s Big Bash League), calling it a day from the tournament and the WNCL.

“I’ve loved the last five years with the Melbourne Stars and being part of the Stars family,” Kristen Beams said. “To see the WBBL grow from the first year of competition to what it is now has been a fantastic journey. I’d like to thank the Melbourne Stars for their support. I’m really proud of the club and what it represents, and I wish them well for the future,” she added.
