DC’s skipper Rishabh Pant and Assistant Coach Pravin Amre were fined a 100% match fee and whereas Shardul Thakur, bowler, was fined 50% of the match for breaching the IPL code of conduct.

In a statement released on IPL official website, Delhi Capitals captain, Rishabh Pant has been fined 100% of his match fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

“Pant admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” the statement read.

Regarding the fine imposed, the releases stated that Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals has been fined 50% of his match fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct.

“Thakur admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” the IPL governing council mentioned.

The incident occurred when Delhi Capitals were chasing down 223-runs against Rajasthan Royals. DC’s Rovman Powell came to the crease and he had to face the challenge of scoring 36 runs to win off the last six balls. Kuldeep Yadav was on the non-striker’s end. Powell slammed three consecutive sixes off the first three deliveries. It was the fourth ball when left-arm fast-medium pacer, Obed McCoy, bowled an above waist-height full toss.

The controversy emerged after the on-field umpire adjudged the no-ball as a legal delivery which left the DC’s team and management exasperated.

As the issue began to irk the players, Pant staged a protest and asked his batsmen to reach the dugout. Meanwhile, Thakur was seen objecting to the decision while Amre walked towards the crease and reportedly demanded the umpire review the ball.
