IND VS WI: Phil Simmon Speaks About An ’Interesting’ Rivalry

All eyes are once again set on the most enthralling and exciting match between Team India and Team West Indies. It will be more interesting to watch when Team India skipper, Virat Kohli, and Windies bowler Kesrick Williams lock horns in third and final T20I at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. As of now, the series is level 1-1. In the opening match, Team India won by six wickets in Hyderabad but in the second match, Windies Team hit back and won by eight wickets in Thiruvananthapuram.

Apart from the good performances that both the teams gave, the rivalry between Kohli and Williams was also witnessed. Kohli copied Williams’ trademark of the notebook celebration after hitting him in Hyderabad.

Phil Simmons Opens Up About Virat Kohli And Kesrick Williams:

Williams then got the golden chance of taking Kohli’s wickets in Thiruvananthapuram and after dismissing him, the Windies bowler gave Team India skipper the ‘keep shut’ and sent him off. Windies coach Phil Simmons was asked about who will have the last smile on their face in Mumbai in the decider, he gave a very simple answer.

“The banter has been good. It has been interesting because they are at 1-1 now because Virat got Kesrick in the opening match and Kesrick got him in the second match. Let’s see who will win the decider match on Wednesday,” Simmons said in a statement to reporters on the evening of Mumbai T20I.

After the first match got over, Kohli explained why he replicated Williams during the first match. He said that cricket was all about playing hard and giving your best, but in the end, it is important to show respect towards your opponents.

“It happened to me in Jamaica when he got me out, so I thought I would tick a few in the notebook as well but all good, smiles out there, in the end, that’s what you want to see, good competitive cricket but at the end of the day we shake hands, that’s what cricket is all about, play hard but at the end give some respect to your opponents,” Kohli stated this at the post-match ceremony.
