Shoaib Akhtar Feels Quite Emotional Over The First Test Match

The Former Pakistani Cricketer Shoaib Akhtar says when cricketers play cricket at their home ground they’ll get a homely feeling by watching the fans cheer for them. They feel like heroes and will inspire young cricketers to become like them.

After a long time, Test cricket returns to Pakistan. It’s almost a decade, since the terrible attack in 2009 in which 6 security personnel and 2 civilians lost their lives. Other teams refused to play Test cricket in Pakistan thereafter due to security reasons and asked Pakistan to play home tests at neutral venues in the United Arab Emirates.

Now Sri Lanka cricket management has agreed to play a two-match Test series in Pakistan. Pakistan is all set to host the first Test match with Sri Lanka in their home soil. Both the teams have announced their respective squads for the game.

The first test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled to start on 11th December at the Rawalpindi cricket stadium.

Shoaib Akhtar, the former cricketer of Pakistan, became quite emotional after he came to know about the Test match in his home city.

Known as Rawalpindi Express, Akhtar was very happy about the return of Test cricket to Pakistan has expressed his excitement.

On Wednesday, Shoaib Akhtar took to Twitter and wrote a message, “I welcome Test Cricket back to Pakistan. Especially, to my city Rawalpindi. When your players play at home, they become heroes, this is what inspires a young generation to take up a sport and idolize greatness. #PAKvSL #Rawalpindi”

After a long gap, this is the first-ever Test match to take place in the Rawalpindi cricket stadium. The previous limited-overs match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka took place in Lahore and Karachi.
