Happy Birthday Jacques Kallis – One Of World’s Best All-Rounders Of All Time

South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis was born on 16 October 1975 in Cape Town. A right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler, Kallis is considered to be one of the greatest all-round cricketers of all time. To date, he is the only international cricketer to score more than 10,000 runs and bag more than 250 wickets in both ODIs and Test matches.

In his Test career spanning 19 years, he scored 13,289 runs, scalped 292 wickets and took 200 catches. Kallis represented South Africa in 166 Test matches.

Kallis made his Test debut against England at Durban in December 1995 while he played his maiden ODI too against England at Cape Town in January 1996.

A cricketer in the classic mould, apart from Wally Hammond and Sir Garry Sobers, he is one of the few all-rounders in Test cricket with a batting average of over 50 and bowling average of 20 or more.

In 2003-04, he became only the fourth Test cricketer to score a century in five consecutive games. Others, who had done it before him were the legendary Sir Donald Bradman, Mohammad Yousuf, and Gautam Gambhir.

Kallis retired from all forms of international cricket in July 2014.

In the T20 format, the Proteas cricketer represented Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, Sydney Thunder in BBL and Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in CPL, among others.

Currently, the 44-year-old is the coach for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
