The 2022 edition of the Asia Cup 2022 was started with the picture of either India or Pakistan as the winner, but there was one team that changed the whole scenario, and that was Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka won the Aisa Cup 2022, leaving all the other teams stunned in the competition.

No one had expected their victory specially after the Island side lost their first match of the edition to Afghanistan and won their second game by just 2 wickets against Bangladesh.

Their win against Bangladesh provided them the ticket to the Super four stage, while Indian team, who topped their group to reach super four was the favourite to win the cup.

But what turned next shocked everyone…

The Super four round started with the clash between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, and the former took the revenge of their last defeat in the game.

India, on the other hand, faced their first defeat of the tournament, that too against their arch-rivals, Pakistan.

All eyes were on the next big clash that was between Sri Lanka and India, and shockingly India lost the game and was out of the tournament.

Afghanistan was the second team who failed to qualify to the finals, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka reached the final of the Asia Cup 2022.

The Big Final

Pakistan won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat first, and their bowlers did their work as planned as they broke the back of the opponent by dismissing half of their side at just 58 on a big final night in Dubai.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored an unbeaten 71 off 45 to rescue his side, while Wanindu Hasaranga also played a handy knock, as Sri Lanka posted 170 on board in 20 overs.

The target was not that big for the star-studded Pakistan side, but apart from Mohammad Rizwan’s controversial 55, no one batter showed any bravery to provide support to Rizwan, as Pakistan fell 23 runs short of their target, and Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup title for the sixth time.
