Team India had a disappointing performance in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Pakistan’s former captain, Wasim Akram has so expressed his opinion on India’s participation in the major event. He believes that the side should just be permitted to play in various leagues throughout the world in order to get experience in other environments. Here is Wasim Akram About India’s Performance In T20 World Cup
Wasim Akram About India’s Performance In T20 World Cup
India lost their first match in the mega event versus Pakistan. Shaheen Afridi made a huge impact by knocking off India’s top order, enabling his team to achieve a historic triumph. Akram feels, after that match, the Men in Blue, were unable to regroup and change things back.
Following a setback versus Pakistan, Team India were defeated by New Zealand. Despite victories over Afghanistan, Namibia, and Scotland, they were unable to qualify for the semi-finals. It was also India’s first failure to advance to the knockout stages of an ICC occasion over 8 years.
Team India have to think back: Wasim Akram
Akram elaborated on these concerns, stating that Indian players should participate in a variety of competitions throughout the world. He believes that participating in the IPL is insufficient for the team and that India must think about it.
In a recent interview, Wasim Akram said – “When you play leagues in different countries – one or two, I’m not saying play every league – at least your players get the experience to play against the other bowlers, different pitches, different teams, different conditions. So I think they (India) have to think back… IPL is the number 1 league, yes, money-wise, talent-wise but they have to allow the players at least one or two more leagues worldwide”.
“They were the favorites to win the World Cup. And I suppose after the first game… especially Shaheen Afridi’s first over, they never could recover. Then you see, there were a lot of talks about they concentrate on the IPL a lot more”.
“Their players don’t play against international players as much in the other league. And probably they were right at times because very few have faced – Pakistan and India have hardly played cricket – very few have faced Shaheen, Haris Rauf, or Hasan Ali,” Akram concluded.
