Stuart Broad Names The Best Fast Bowler In Modern-Day Cricket

Over the years, Stuart Broad has established himself as one of the best England bowlers of the modern age. It is admirable that he retaliated after hitting six sixes in an over in T20 World Cup 2007. Brad’s success story was extraordinary as he rose from the event and became the second-highest wicket-taker for the Three Lions.

Stuart Broad holds the red ball record under his belt with 485 wickets and is ranked seventh on the list of highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history. Pacer has emerged as one of the key players on the English side and is a valuable component to his national team. His exemplary record speaks about his outstanding class.

In addition to 485 wickets in Tests, the 33-year-old also has 178 one-day scalps and 65 T20I scalps to his name. Recently, Brad engaged with two other celebrities on the Sky Sports Podcast – West Indian Michael Holding and South Africa’s Shawn Pollock. The trio discusses all-time best seamers.

Michael Holding, Shaun Pollock also laud Dale Steyn:

Stuart Broad picked Dale Steyn as the best speedster of his generation. And he praised South Africa’s speed and swing and called it a near-perfect model. If someone wants to be a bowler, he wants to have the ability to have Steyn.

“He’s the bowler of my generation. The action, the pace, the way he can swing it, is a skill. If you want to be a bowler, you need that ability,” Broad said on the podcast.

Apart from Stuart Broad, Steyn’s name also included in his list of the top four bowlers in the history of cricket. West Indies legend Malcolm Marshall, Dennis Lilly, and Andy Roberts have named to the popular roster along with Steyn.

“You can’t put Dale Steyn out of the picture. He was one of the greatest fast bowlers of an era. You have to pay to see him,” Holding said of Steyn.

Shaun Pollock also praised Steyn’s pace and his reverse swing art. Pollock praised the Proteus Speedster and called him special.

Pollock praised Steyn, saying, “I can’t have enough respect for Steyn. His ability to shape the ball at high speed, then come back and reverse it.”

“He knocked it down with flat wickets and had good action and variety. He’s unique, and his stats are backing it up,” Pollock said.
