Brisbane Heat’s opening pair, Grace Harris and Georgia Redmayne added 63 for the first wicket in 7.1 overs, but due to lack staying at crease for long approach, harmed Heat chances to post a big total.
Harris was the top run-scorer for side with 39, while her partner, Georgia Redmayne was the second-best in Sixers innings with 28.
Jess Jonassen tried her best with 22 as her short knock kept the score board tickling before Heat faced a last five overs collapse.
It was all then dependent on Heat’s bowlers to defend 140 against a star-studded Sydney Sixers side, which they defended.
Brisbane Heat bowlers deliver match-winning performance
Brisbane Heat bowlers put Sydney Sixers on backfoot after claiming the wickets of Alyssa Healy (1), skipper Elysse Perry (1) and Amelia Kerr (4) early during the chase.
Shikha Pandey got the wickets of Healy and Kerr, while Nicola Hancock dismissed the leading run-getter in the league Elysse Perry.
Ashleigh Gardner and Holli Armitage then tried to rescue their side with their defending approach, but it didn’t last long, as Garnder walked back after scoring 10, and Armitage hit 17.
With 45 for 5 in 10.4 overs, Sixers still required 95 off the final 56 deliveries, the combined efforts of Sarah Bryce (30 off 26), Maitlan Brown (16 off 11), Sophie Ecclestone’s 18-ball 24* and Caomihe Bray’s 10-ball 15, helped the Sydney Sixers to add another 82 off the final 56, but it wasn’t enough to secure the victory.
