Sri Lanka Squad: Angelo Mathews Retires, Fernando & Wellalage Added
The two-match Test series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Sri Lanka is approaching its second Test on 25 June 2025. Sri Lanka, the host nation, has revealed its squad for the second Test. The squad will no longer witness Angelo Mathews following his retirement from the red-ball game. On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s pacer Milan Rathnayake has sustained a left-side strain. As a result, Milan Rathnayake won’t appear for the second Test match against Bangladesh.
Furthermore, two new appointments are introduced to the second Test squad. Left-arm pacer Vishwa Fernando and left-arm orthodox spinner Dunith Wellalage are new entrants to the Test squad. Vishwa Fernando appeared in 27 Test matches for Sri Lanka. Fernando has 79 wickets in 47 innings at an average of 32.07. On the other hand, Dunith Wellalage, appearing in one Test and two innings, has no wickets to his name.

SL vs BAN 1st Test
The first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Galle, Sri Lanka, concluded with a tie. The coin flipped in favor of Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who decided to bat first. Bangladesh had scored 497 at the loss of ten wickets in 153.4 overs in their first innings. In response, Sri Lanka was all out, constructing 485 in 131.2 overs in their first innings, trailing by 12 runs. Furthermore, Bangladesh put 285 runs on board, losing six wickets in 87 overs in their second innings. On the fifth day, Sri Lanka scored 74 runs with six wickets remaining. Lastly, the match ended in a draw.
