Scotland T20 World Cup Squad
After much wait, Scotland announces its 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The team’s skipper is Richard Berrington.
The team has young and talented Brandon McMullen. Ali Evans and Gavin Main, both experienced seamers, are absent from the final 15. Oliver Hairs is also out of the side.
Scotland’s rising side will rely primarily on Berrington for the majority of their runs. While veteran duo Henry Munsey and Caleb MacLeod are also capable of scoring effectively. Berrington’s experience will be valuable in Scotland’s upper echelons. Last year, the 35-year-old hammered two half-centuries and scored a team-high 177 runs.
Scotland will need the right-hander to be at his best again this year to advance to the Super 12 stage. Berrington’s side is in Group B of the first round. The group includes Ireland, Zimbabwe, and the West Indies.
Head coach Shane Burger says, “We are very pleased and excited to announce our 15 players for the T20 World Cup. We have selected 15 that we believe will make the desired impact we are looking for. For those players who are not going to the world cup, we look forward to seeing them challenging for international honors in years to come.”
Their first encounter is against the Caribbean side at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on October 17, followed by a match against Ireland at the same venue in Zimbabwe later that week.
