On This Day Sachin Tendulkar Scored Maiden IPL Century

Sachin Tendulkar scored maiden IPL century.

Today, in 2011, the then Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar scored his first Indian Premier League maiden century against the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the 13th match of the tournament at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Sachin Tendulkar had Opened his batting with wicketkeeper-batsman Davy Jacobs (12), and Kochi pacer Rudra Partap Singh. The action in the match followed after he had hit a boundary in the first over. And the runs then flowed in and made the innings a memorable one for master Blaster.

As Mumbai Indians falling to 44/0 in the powerplay, 37-year-old Tendulkar continued to push boundaries against Vinay Kumar and KTK all-rounder Tisara Perera.

In the 61 runs partnership, Sachin Tendulkar slowed down after the powerplay to complete his half-century for the 10th time in the 14th over.

Tendulkar once again hit against Vinay Kumar with two sixes and a four in the 16th over. In the last over, Tendulkar hit a four and a six for Pereira, including a helicopter shot that hit the three-figure mark.

Tendulkar struck two more fours off Vinay Kumar in the last over and scored a single in the final delivery of the innings, scoring 100 * (66) with the help of 12 fours and three sixes. Ambati Rayudu’s fourth IPL half-century (53) helped the legendary batsman to score 182/2 in 20 overs.

Tendulkar’s innings was not enough for MI to register his third consecutive win this season, as Kochi was chased by Brendon McCullum (81) and skipper Mahela Jayawardene (56) in just 19 overs.
