India vs Australia 1st Test Highlights for Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Indian batters dominance at Perth  

Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul put on a strong 200-run opening partnership on Day 3, with Rahul scoring 77 before being dismissed by Mitchell Starc. Jaiswal, in superb form, reached his fourth Test century, finishing with 161 off 297 balls. Devdutt Padikkal added 25 before falling to Josh Hazlewood.

Virat Kohli then anchored India’s innings with a brilliant 30th Test century off 194 balls, playing with both patience and aggression. Along with Washington Sundar’s 29, India posted a solid total of 487. Jasprit Bumrah struck early, dismissing Nathan McSweeney and taking two more wickets, leaving Australia at 12/3, needing 522 runs to win. 

 India’s historic win in BGT 2024-25  

Australia began the final day facing a humongous 522-run target or the challenge of surviving two full days against India’s strong bowling attack. Travis Head (89 off 101) and Mitchell Marsh (47 off 67) offered some hope for the Australian side with a 91-run partnership, but Bumrah and Siraj struck consistently. Bumrah took 3/55, adding to his impressive debut as captain, while Sundar and Siraj also claimed vital wickets.  

Despite a brave 36 from Alex Carey, Australia was bowled out for 238 in 58.4 overs. India’s bowlers, supported by excellent fielding, secured a dominant 295-run win, showcasing India’s strength in overseas conditions. Team India’s dominating 295-run victory makes the Border-Gavaskar series a pivotal point for both sides, highlighting their increasing strength in international cricket.
