India T20 WC Team Based on IPL Performance
India T20 WC Team Based on IPL: IPL is arguably the best T20 league cricket in the world, with the supporters waiting 10 months for a new season to begin. The mood of the audience is a little different this time, owing due to the T20 World Cup, which begins right after the conclusion of IPL 2024.
With India still searching for an ICC trophy after the 2013 Champions Trophy, fans are curious to know who all will make the cut. The Indian team, however, will be announced during the last week of April, but today we have tried to put together a team based on 3 weeks of IPL performance.
Top-order
Rohit Sharma, Abhishek Sharma, Virat Kohli
Rohit Sharma is the regular captain of India and will continue to be during the T20 World Cup 2024. Sharma is the only player confirmed in the squad. He is aggressive, tactical, and he is a leader.
There are some rumors that Virat Kohli is not fitting in T20 team due to his style of play. But his performance so far in IPL tells you a complete opposite story. Like most of the seasons, Kohli is leading the orange cap race in this edition too and has struck a ton too. The Indian team is incomplete without run machine Kohli.
SRH’s opening batter overshadowed Australia’s destructive batter Travis Head with his aggressive approach. He smashed a 63 off 23 during SRH’s 277 run fest, the highest total ever in IPL history. Abhishek has maintained a strike-rate nearing 217.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are the preferred candidates for the opening slot in Indian T20 side, the performance of Abhishek will surely grab many eyebrows.
Middle order
Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag
Dube is the backbone of team CSK in Indian Premier League and his ability to strike the ball well specially during the middle overs, making him the perfect candidate to pick in the side.
Riyan Parag stunned everyone with his performance this season. The right-arm batter already struck two match winning knocks and is the third highest run-getter with a strike rate nearing 158.

Wicketkeeper
Sanju Samson
The skipper of Rajasthan Royals is in sublime form, which is one of the main reasons behind Royals top spot in the points table after 3 weeks of Indian Premier League 2024.
Samson already smashed 2 fifties in just 4 games with a strike-rate 150.85. If he continued to play cricket in similar fashion, he would definitely grab the chance to feature in India’s T20 World Cup squad.
Bowlers
Jasprit Bumrah, Mayank Yadav, Mohit Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal
India’s premium pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, will undoubtedly the second player to make it to India’s T20 WC 2024 squad. He is topping the list after 3 weeks of IPL performance too.
Batters are still unable to find to a solution to Bumrah’s yorkers, making him the sureshot contender.
Joining him in the pace department is a newcomer Mayank Yadav, who shocked the cricket fraternity with his explosive speed at the age of 21, and less first-class experience. His ability to ball quick with perfect line and lengths, making him the best pacer alongside Bumrah in Indian T20 team.
The experienced Mohit Sharma has impressed yet again in the initial stage of IPL 2024 after finishing second highest wicket taker last season. His variations are very useful in death overs which can play a crucial part on the slow pitches in West Indies.
The cleverest leg spinner is the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024 after 3 weeks. Going as per IPL performance, Chahal will be the first-choice spinner in the team.
