Skipper Leads from Front as India beat Zimbabwe to Take Lead in Series

In a breathtaking game of cricket, India has managed to pull off a thriller to make it 2-1 in the five-match T20I series. Both teams had their moments in the game where T20 World Cup winners gave their best in order to take the lead in the series. However, with still two games to go the series is poised to be a final match thriller, with both teams giving each other a tough fight.

After winning the toss India decided to bat first keeping the batting-friendly conditions in mind. With Yashasvi Jaiswal back in the playing 11 the young sensation came out to open alongside Shubman Gill. Both of them got off to a thriller start where in the first six overs they scored 55 runs for the loss of zero wickets.

However, the first wicket fell when Raza provided the much-needed breakthrough in the form of Jaiswal’s wicket, then quickly Abhishek Sharma also followed him back to the pavilion after scoring 10 runs. Even though two wickets fell in quick succession Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad played a wonderful innings to rescue India from humiliation.

Gill and Gaikwad Over Power Zimbabwe Bowlers

Skipper Shubman Gill played a wonderful innings along with Ruturaj Gaikwad to help India post a reasonable total of 182/4 in 20 overs. Gill scored 66 off 49 deliveries which included three sixes and seven fours. While Ruturaj Gaikwad also played his part with 49 of 28 balls.

It was these two players who propelled the Indian team’s score to 180+. However for Zimbabwe Raza and Muzarabani were the only bowlers to pick up wickets as both of them grabbed two wickets each.

Zimbabwe On the Chase failed as Indian Bowlers Dominate

With 183 to score the Zimbabwe batters needed to be careful. However, Avesh Khan gave India the first wicket in the second over. Where in the first six overs Zimbabwe was able to score just 37 runs. While Dion Myers fought hard until the end and remained not out but failed to take his team over the line. He scored 65* from 49 balls. Wicketkeeper Clive Madande also tried his best but failed after scoring 37 from 26 balls.

Washington Sundar was the star man for India with the ball as he picked up three wickets, While Avesh Khan took two and Khaleel Ahmed picked up one wicket that left Zimbabwe trailing at 159/6 in 20 overs. In the end, it was India who won the game by 23 runs.

Conclusion: India Beat Zimbabwe by 23 Runs

In a thrilling game of cricket, it was India who won the game by 23 runs and took the lead 2-1 in the five-match T20I series. Now with two more games to go, Zimbabwe has to win both games to win the series, while India has to win one more match to seal the series.
