Varun Chakravarthy was indeed the man most responsible for Bangalore’s dismal performance with the bat. In the four overs he bowled, the KKR spinner took three wickets and surrendered only 13 runs. And Chakravarthy was named Player of the Match for his dazzling play with the ball.

RCB captain Virat Kohli praised Chakravarthy for his outstanding performance. He said that Chakravarthy would be an essential part of India’s bowling attack in T20Is, the RCB captain believes that indeed youngsters must contribute well in order to enhance the Indian team’s bench strength. Kohli went on to say that Chakravarthy’s achievement is also a good sign for Indian cricket.

“Pretty good, that’s exactly what I was saying in the dug-out, he will be a key factor when he plays for India. We need to see performances like these from all the youngsters so that the bench strength of Indian cricket stays strong. And, he’s someone who is going to play in the near future for India and it’s a great sign,” said Kohli after the match.

Playing for India has made me feel better: Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy, said that the surface was flat, the ball wasn’t spinning enough, and he delivered a stump-to-stump approach. The 30-year-old finished by saying that playing for India had made him feel stronger.

“When I have the ball in my hand, I try to assess the pitch. It was flat, credit to the bowlers for bowling well in the Powerplay. I like to set it up for the bowlers who come on after me. There wasn’t much spin on offer, so I had to keep my line on the stumps only. Playing for India has made me feel better, I have a sense of acceptance from people around me because I started at 26,” concluded Chakravarthy.
