Kolkata Knight Riders Beat Rajasthan Royals By 7 Wicket.

After winning the toss and inviting Rajasthan to bat first, Umesh Yadav provided KKR the much-needed start as in the second over he sent Devdutt Padikkal back to the pavilion.

Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson played steady cricket then and added 48 runs before Tim Southee got rid of the current orange cap leader. Karun Nair, who walked in at no.4, was only able to score 13 runs and left his team in the middle of the crisis.

The skipper Sanju Samson somehow completed his fifty but quickly got out while attempting for a six over midwicket but he miss-timed the full-length delivery and got caught at deep midwicket.

Shimron Hetmyer breathed some much-needed life into the innings as 30 runs were scored in the last two overs. Rajasthan with the help of late heroics from Shimron Hetmyer (27 off 13 balls) and small cameos from Riyan Parag (19) and Ashwin (6), managed to put 152 on board in 20 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders too not had a great start to their innings, as both their openers, Aaron Finch and B. Indrajith didn’t survive long.

Finch trapped in Kuldeep Sen’s back-of-a-length delivery, while Indrajith miscued one to R. Ashwin at fine leg. The Iyer-led side found themselves in the same kind of boat as Rajasthan during a power play.

Though the skipper Shreyas and Nitish Rana recorded valuable 60 runs and kept the scoreboard ticking. Iyer was dismissed when Samson confidently went for a referral after a wide call. At first, it looked like seemed Shreyas had played and missed, but Ultra Edge ended Iyer’s valuable innings of 34 runs.

Rinku Singh, who came when KKR were at 92 for three in 12.5 overs, showed some class on the field and with support from Rana, they drove KKR home.

With this win, the Kolkata Knight Riders have kept their hopes alive to grab a place in the final top-4 in the 15th edition of the Indian premier league.
