Players IPL Teams Missed Buying: There are a lot of players whom the IPL teams didn’t trust in the latest mini-auction. Teams seemed to have their eye on a select few players. They appeared rigid in their thought process. Teams stuck to a definite plan of buying just a few players. They ended up splurging around INR 52.25 crores on just 3 players. This forced them to play safe when it came to other quality players. Most of these ignored players at the auctions have immediately gone on to make a major impact.

We look at 5 such top Players IPL Teams Missed Buying In IPL 2023 Mini Auction:
#5 Travis Head
He has been on a roll ever since his Ashes performance in 2021-22. Travis Head hasn’t looked back ever since. He continued his rich vein of form even in the ODIs. Head was the standout player in the series against South Africa.
The bowling-friendly conditions in the series couldn’t stop him from scoring freely. He is a much-improved bowler against spin too. Head could have been a solid player for any IPL team. He is versatile enough to bat at the top of the order or in the middle order.
#4 Mehidy Hasan Miraz
He was the player of the tournament in the 2016 U-19 World Cup. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has gone from strength to strength even at the international level. He was in sensational form both with the bat and with the ball in the 3-match ODI series against India.
Hasan was the sole difference between the two sides in the first ODI. He scored a century batting at number 8 in the second game to take Bangladesh to an improbable victory. Hasan picked up a fiver in the second Test to underline his bowling credentials. IPL teams sure missed a trick in not selecting him.
#3 Steve Smith
He broke Sydney Sixers’ century drought in the Big Bash League. Steve Smith opening the innings smashed one of the most fluent centuries ever scored in the league’s history. The Australian batter who has the experience of leading an IPL side would have been handy for any IPL side. He could surely have been a useful player for a side like Gujarat Titans. Smith’s prowess against spin is well-documented too. It doesn’t appear a wise decision to not pick Smith.
#2 Michael Bracewell
He made his much-awaited debut in 2022. Michael Bracewell made it to the national team at the age of 30. But he didn’t waste any time leaving his impression on the game. Bracewell struck a fine ODI century against Ireland batting at number 7. He is a quality allrounder who can chip in with his off-spinners. It was his excellent century against India in the first ODI at Hyderabad that caught everyone’s attention. He became only the second batter after legendary MS Dhoni to score two ODI centuries batting at number 7 or lower.
#1 Dasun Shanaka
He remains the most baffling omission of the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Dasun Shanaka continues to impress everyone, especially with his batting. Shanaka singlehandedly won the only game that Sri Lanka won in the entire tour against India. He is a mighty fine finisher who is equally good against both pace and spin. Shanaka knows the Indian conditions well. He could have been part of any team’s leadership group. But alas teams didn’t see any merit in his inclusion!
