In IPL 2022, we watched players flaming and trying their best for their teams, but it wasn’t always the big stars that helped their side win. It was also the input of young talent that has been fostered and is ready to blossom under their leadership. There were a few notable young players in the IPL 2022 who may not have played for national teams but certainly put in a good effort.
Tilak Verma
The poised-looking young man is as explosive as a batter. He was bought by Mumbai Indians for a whopping 1.7 crores in IPL 2022. Making his mark, the young gun was amongst the top scorer for MI with 397 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 131 which was the second-highest for his team. His effort definitely makes us want to watch more of him and we will be eager to see him next season.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was one of only four uncapped players retained ahead of the IPL 2022 season. Jaiswal has proven his worth as an opener for Rajasthan Royals, competing against big names for a spot in the team. His poise and demeanour playing with Jos Buttler impressed many. Although he has a lot to learn, his performance this year surely made many drool.
Dewald Brevis
The Mumbai Indians’ youthful South African U-19 acquisition, also known as Baby AB, is as unusual as his idol. MI purchased Dewald Brevis for 3 crores as a future investment, but his skill looked ready to be put to use. His 360-degree batting kept everyone in the stadium amused whenever he played.
The player who caused a stir when SRH signed him ahead of the IPL 2022 season when he had only played three games. The youthful pacer had surprised the Hyderabad team with his constant speed of 145-150 km/h. He makes batters uncomfortable with his sheer speed, which causes them to make mistakes. The boy ended IPL by bowling the fastest delivery of the season and also getting an India call.
Abhishekh Sharma
The 21-year-old is a ferocious batsman who keeps bowlers wondering. He has the ability to make it big as an opener, with a strike rate of 133+. He is a complete T20 player, capable of both batting and bowling. He was the top run-scorer for Sunrisers leaving behind legends like Kane Williamson in his team and we cannot wait to see more of him.
