PBKS vs SRH Match Summary:
Punjab Kings ended their IPL 2022 campaign on good note with a 5-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing the target of 158, Punjab Kings got off to a flying start as Jonny Bairstow fired a quick 23 off 15 before Fazalhaq Farooqi removed him to provide SRH a breakthrough.
Shahrukh Khan, who made his comeback to the side after a couple of games, also played some good shots, but was unable to convert his quick 19 runs inning to a big one and was caught by Washington Sundar at the back of mid-on. Mayank Agarwal, who came at no.4 again failed to score runs and got out at just 1 run.
However, Shikhar Dhawan from the other end playing a steady cricket to keep PBKS in chase. Liam Livingstone joined Dhawan after skipper’s dismissal and he did exactly the same for which he is known for, smashing big shots. Both Dhawan and Livingstone did a solid 41-run partnership before Fazalhaq Farooqi ended Dhawan’s innings.
Although, Livingstone continued his aggressive approach scored an unbeaten 49 off 21 balls to help Punjab win the game with 29 balls to spare.
Earlier, SRH after winning and toss and electing to bat, the orange army witnessed an early loss when Priyam Garg got out in the 3rd over. Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi then steadied their boat, adding 47 runs for the second wicket. However, both batter were dismissed in quick succession as PBKS pegged SRH back.
SRH were reeling at 96 for five at one stage before Romario Shepherd and Washington Sundar provided them with some much-needed impetus and help their team cross the 150 mark in 20 overs.
Washington Sundar played a handy knock of 25 off 19 balls, while Romario Shepherd scored 26 runs in just 15 deliveries. Abhishek Sharma, who played a crucial 43-run knock remained the highest scorer of SRH.
Nathan Ellis and Harpreet Brar bagged 3-3 wickets, while Kagiso Rabada took 1 for PBKS.
