Rishi Dhawan Wore Face Shield

Rishi Dhawan of the Punjab Kings is back in the IPL. It’s been five years since we’ve seen one other. Rishi played against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday in his first IPL match since 2016. On the basis of his domestic performance, the Kings handed the 32-year-old a chance. Rishi had a quick effect on the game, taking two wickets. Rishi’s face mask, which he wore the whole game, was what attracted everyone’s attention. Let us know Why Rishi Dhawan Wore Face Shield?

Here’s Why Rishi Dhawan Wore Face Shield In The Entire Game:

Rishi’s face mask, which he donned during Punjab’s match versus Chennai, is a protective gear worn by players who have had nose or face surgery recently. Rishi recently stated that he was out of the first four games for Punjab due to surgery following an injury incurred in the Ranji Trophy.

After a strong domestic season with Himachal Pradesh, the 32-year-old Dhawan was selected by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 mega auction for Rs 55 lakh. Last year, he guided his squad to the historic Vijay Hazare Trophy. The seamer had a nice effort with the ball for Punjab in his IPL return. He helped Punjab beat CSK by 11 runs on Monday by first dismissing in-form batsman Shivam Dube (for 8) in his second over and then dismissing MS Dhoni in the penultimate over of the innings.

Rishi admitted that getting hurt was discouraging because he felt it might jeopardize his IPL comeback. Rishi also stated that he underwent surgery, which forced him to miss Punjab’s first four matches, but that he is now completely recovered and ready to play again.

Earlier this year, the all-rounder was hit in the face with his follow-through while bowling in a Ranji Trophy game and was brought to the hospital for scans. He had surgery lately, which is why he was unable to play in the first few games for the Punjab-based team. Rishi spoke about his injuries and his ambition to return to the pitch and deliver for the Punjab Kings in a video posted on social media.

In a nail-biting encounter against one of the finest finishers in the world, he kept his cool and came up trumps to win the match for his team. Rishi Dhawan just led his state team to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and this accomplishment will undoubtedly improve his confidence for the remainder of the season.

Punjab Kings moved above Delhi Capitals in the IPL points standings with the win, and are now in the sixth position with eight points from as many games. The next match will be on April 29 at Pune, against the Lucknow Super Giants.
