IPL Teams Rankings: 4 to 6

#6. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

We start with PRC Which ranks 6th in the IPL team rankings, people may wonder why the RCB ranks 6, so let’s have a closer look into the reason behind it. Despite qualifying for the playoffs they were unable to make it into the finals, as they faced many challenges in the batting and bowling.

RCB’s IPL 2024 struggles were marked by a weak spin department, inconsistency of pace attack, and poor performance by middle-order batters. Lack of depth in both batting and bowling, especially spin, mixed with the release of key players like Wanindu Hasaranga, impacted their balance.

To address these challenges, they placed bids on Krunal Pandya, Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Liam Livingstone, and Tim David for the IPL 2025. To improve the consistency of their pace attack, they included Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Nuwan Thushara. Additionally, for stability in the spin department, they backed Suyash Sharma.

After these significant changes in their squad, they might rise in the rankings with 57% and they could finish IPL 2025 between 5-3.

#5. Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR had a strong season last year, but they may face challenges this time. The team must adjust to changes, including the departure of their title-winning captain Shreyas Iyer, and the new leadership of Ajinkya Rahane. The players may need time to adapt to this new setup.

KKR has a solid batting lineup, but their bowling attack, especially the pace bowlers, might struggle. They have pacers like Venkatesh Iyer, Vaibhav Arora, Anrich Nortje, and Mayank Markande, but their inexperience could cause problems against strong batting teams.

On the positive side, their spin attack, led by Sunil Narine and Venkatesh Iyer, offers stability. Considering these factors, KKR has a slight chance to improve its ranking, possibly going up by 20%, and may end up in 4th place.

#4. Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) finished in 9th place, winning 5 matches and losing 9. The team struggled because Shikhar Dhawan was injured, and there were several changes in leadership with Dhawan, Sam Curran, and Jitesh Sharma, which created instability.

Additionally, Jonny Bairstow and Kagiso Rabada did not perform well, and the team had issues during the death overs, which hurt their chances of reaching the playoffs.

To improve, PBKS hired Shreyas Iyer for ₹26.75 Cr after his successful season with KKR. Iyer’s strong batting and leadership is expected to help solve the captaincy issues and improve the inconsistent top-order batting.

They also strengthened the middle order by adding Glenn Maxwell and Marco Jansen. For bowling, especially in spin-friendly conditions, they targeted Yuzvendra Chahal, who could play a key role. With these changes, PBKS has a 48% chance of moving up in the rankings. If they play well this season, they could finish in 3rd or 4th position in the IPL team rankings.
