IND Vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah haunts England in first ODI, removes 4 batters during powerplay

Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah showed his magic during the first power play of the series opener to put England on back foot in the first ODI at Kennington Oval, London. Here in this article, we talk about Jasprit Bumrah’s power play at IND Vs ENG.

The World No.5 bowler Bumrah dismissed 4 of England’s top batters during his first 5 overs in the innings to provide an advantage to the visitors over the English side.

Bumrah outshined both of England’s openers in its first over itself.

First he bowled Jason Roy on the fourth bowl of the second over of England’s innings. Then he trapped the in-form Joe Root in his short and outside off delivery and at wickets made no mistake and took a catch to force Bairstow back to pavilion. That was a 2-wicket maiden over start by Bumrah.

In the next over, Mohammed Shami took the charge and removed the dangerous Ben Stokes. While in the next couple of overs, Bumrah first dismissed Jonny Bairstow and then Liam Livingstone.

At the time of writing this article, England were at 42 for 5 in 11 overs. With, the skipper Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali are on the crease.

Before the commencement of the ODI series, the head coach of team England Matthew Mott urged the England side to be brave against India in one-day Internationals, and his statement turns out be very right as Indian bowlers are just on destroying mode in the series opener.

Earlier, India lost the one-off test that was played from July 1 to 5 by 7 wickets, but the Indian side bounced back strongly and defeated the England side by 2-1 in the T20Is under their regular captain Rohit Sharma.

Unfortunatley, the ex-skipper Virat Kohli, who was highly charged to play the ODI series missed out from the first ODI due to groin injury. In his absence, Suryakumar Yadav, who smashed his maiden ton in third and final T20 will bat at no.3 for India in the first ODI against England.
