Umran Malik looks up to Jaspreet Bumrah, Bhuvneshshwar, and Mohammed Shami as Inspiration

Umran Malik is a fast bowler. When we say fast, we really mean it. In IPL 2022, the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler has routinely won the fastest delivery award. He’d turned it into a habit. Fast bowling is a skill that cannot be taught. You must have some form of ability and be physically capable of doing so. However, there is some science behind quick bowling. Here in this article, we talk about Who Are Umran Malik’s Idol?

In IPL 2022, he ended up taking 22 wickets in 14 games for SunRisers Hyderabad, including a five-wicket haul against Gujarat Titans. The bowler bowled frequently in the 150kmph bracket, including the season’s second-fastest ball of 157kmph. The Jammu-born spinner has been chosen for India’s team for the forthcoming five-match series against South Africa, which kicks off on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Former Australia bowler Brett Lee claimed last week that Umran reminded him of Waqar Younis in an interview with news agency ANI.

Umran, on the other hand, has indicated that his bowling inspirations are Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and SRH colleague Bhuvneshwar Kumar, rather than the former Pakistan pacer.

The Indian Express spoke with Umran and he said, “I have not followed Waqar Younis. I have a natural action. My idols include (Jasprit) Bumrah, (Mohammed) Shami, and Bhuvneshwar (Kumar) Bhai. I used to follow them when I was playing while coming through the ranks.”

The pacer has also said that he hasn’t gotten carried away after being named to the national squad and his goal is to help India win all five T20Is against South Africa.

Malik added, “There’s no point getting carried away. If it is destined to happen, it will Inshallah. I want to do my best for my country. I have got an opportunity in these five (T20I) matches (against South Africa). My goal will be that we win all five matches, I perform well and single-handedly win those games for India,”

“Firstly, I am really grateful for all the love and respect that I have been getting from all over India. Relatives and other people keep coming home, it feels very good. I have been a bit busy after the IPL, but have not missed training and practice,” he further added.

Umran Malik has taken seven wickets in three first-class matches thus far. In T20 cricket, he has appeared in 22 matches, collecting 33 wickets at an average of 21.72 and an economy rate of 8.83.
