T20 World Cup 2024: Top teams with Best bowling attack

Best bowling attack teams in the T20 World Cup 2024

While batters often steal the spotlight with their run-scoring feats, bowlers are equally vital in clinching tournament victories. This saying holds significant weight as we approach the T20 World Cup 2024. Despite the format’s inherent favor towards batters, bowlers will be crucial to their team’s success.

According to reports, the pitches in the West Indies, one of the hosts for this World Cup, are expected to be slower and more conducive to bowling. This condition will likely benefit spinners and pace bowlers who rely on variations, allowing them to shine throughout the tournament. Consequently, many teams have opted to bolster their bowling line-ups this time, focusing less on a batting-heavy strategy.

Here are the Top teams with Best bowling attack in the T20 World Cup 2024:

  • New Zealand

New Zealand has opted for an experienced squad for the T20 World Cup, featuring two formidable fast bowlers, Trent Boult making his 5th World Cup appearance and Tim Southee in his 7th World Cup. Both excel with the new ball, with Boult particularly known for his ability to take wickets in the first over. Additional fast bowling strength comes from Matt Henry, the rapid Lockie Ferguson, and all-rounders Daryl Mitchell and Jimmy Neesham.

The spin department is equally strong with seasoned players like Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi. Besides them, Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips, and Rachin Ravindra are also capable of contributing to the spin attack.

  • India

India’s strong bowling attack is somewhat overshadowed by concerns in the pace department, which will rely heavily on Jasprit Bumrah. Other pace options include Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya. However, Vice-captain Hardik Pandya had a disappointing IPL 2024 season, and both Siraj and Arshdeep struggled with consistency for their respective teams. Dube, on the other hand, bowled only a few overs this season.

India’s spin attack appears more promising, with four spinners in the squad. Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav had an impressive IPL season. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is known for his wicket-taking abilities. All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, both in excellent form, are expected to challenge the opposition with their left-arm spin.

  • Australia

Australia boasts a diverse array of bowling options. Their pace attack, spearheaded by left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc, features Pat Cummins, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, captain Mitchell Marsh, and all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green. Starc, who was named Player of the Match in both the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1 and the Final, has reinforced his reputation as a big-match performer.

In the spin department, leg-spinner Adam Zampa is anticipated to play a crucial role for Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024, with his variations likely to be highly effective on the challenging pitches in the West Indies. He will be supported by Ashton Agar and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, providing necessary depth to the spin attack.

  • England

Defending champions England have a wealth of bowling options and quality all-rounders in their squad. Jofra Archer has returned to the team after a lengthy absence, though his current form remains to be seen. Specialist pacers Mark Wood and Reece Topley are key components of the attack, while all-rounders Sam Curran and Chris Jordan will also make significant contributions.

England’s spin attack will be led by Adil Rashid, the world’s top-ranked T20 bowler. Rashid aims to maintain his No.1 spot with strong performances in the USA and West Indies. He will be supported by all-rounders Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone during the middle overs.

  • Pakistan

Pakistan is entering the tournament with five specialist fast bowlers: Haris Rauf, Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, and Naseem Shah. As always, their fast-bowling lineup looks strong, but there appears to be an imbalance between their pace and spin options.
