The T20 World Cup 2022 is on our heads and nothing could excite us more. The teams are gearing up for the tournament and all eyes are on the form of players. But in ICC tournaments, it is not just the players but team effort that wins the cup.
Australia won the 2021 leg of the tournament. It was a thrilling affair and this time they are hosting the event. Many may consider them favorites to win the cup but they have worthy competitors who can steal the show at any point.
We all will be supporting our favorite team but based on the squads announced and given the current form of the players and teams, we have analyzed and come up with the ranking for all teams.
Let’s take a look at Who Will Win T20 World Cup 2022:
12- Netherlands
The Team’s chances of qualifying for World Cup’s Super 12 stage is high. They played against England recently and given that they gave them a good competition shows they will only grow in the coming future. The team has a lot of work to do and T20 World Cup 2022 will be a good stage to showcase the talent that many don’t see at the world stage. But in the race of Who Will Win T20 World Cup 2022, they stand at the last position.
11- Bangladesh
We have seen Bangladesh completely outplaying the biggest of opponents but it feels like those days are in the past. The team looks dispersed. There is too much internal conflict and their instability of captain has definitely resulted in the disruption. Their performance relies a lot of individual player. Their approach should be to work as a team if they want to strengthen their influence in the group where they play India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
10- Ireland
Ireland has put their best ever squad for an ICC Tournament with this team. The team is a good balance of young and old. This will be a great learning experience for them going into the 50-over World Cup in 2023. If they quality for the Super 12, they will be placed in Group A which will be very tough to compete with. How they perform in the tournament will be exciting to watch.
9th- Afghanistan
Whatever team you support, your sympathies always lie with Afghanistan. The team has paved its way through struggles to permanent its position at world stage. The players have played in various leagues around the world to build a quality team. Their passion for nation is evident when they are in the middle but lack of inexperience pulls them down. The team may have found its position without playing the qualifiers but they still have a lot to improve on amidst the giants.
8th – West Indies
As always, the West Indies squad is full of T20 superstars. The team has such players that brings a lot of expectations but they fail to perform as a team. For the same reason, this star studded squad finds its position at number 8. The team has a lot to do to build a team spirit, if they do it, they can definitely push their team to better position.
7th – Sri Lanka
Team Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup 2022 which may have excited the team’s fans but in the World Cup, teams around the world take part. Srilanka is suffering an injury scare and it is a big concern for them.
6th – New Zealand
After winning the World Test Championship finals in 2021, the Kiwis have only played cricket against smaller nations. They lost the matches they played against India. They have practiced enough but some competition with bigger teams would have helped them better. The team can either reach the finals or land completely flat. It is hard to expect something from them so they are here at number 6.
5th – South Africa
The South Africa team is still living in a lag. We are so used to seeing superstars in their squad that any quality players they play, it doesn’t feel enough. They are in a phase of transition where they are trying to get the best out of the players. They have a good side, but the number of experienced players in the team, that have played in ICC tournaments are lacking and so, it will affect their contention, because in World Cups, experience matters.
4th – England
The English Team is one of the most dynamic teams in the tournament. They have power hitters, and they have speedsters. They have everything that you need in T20 cricket. But sometimes too much of something is also not good. The teams lack an anchor to keep them grounded and they can rely on to hold one end while batting. This is something that they will miss on a good bowling day by the opponent. They still are most likely to play Semis.
3rd – India
Team India does not have a very happening history of performing best in the ICC tournament. Even though the team has the best batting lineup of all teams in the tournament, they are not the favorites going into the tournament because their bowling looks as dodgy. Even a month before the tournament, the team hasn’t been able to sort out players that will be their frontline bowlers and can deliver. It will concern them. A lot will depend on the toss as to where the team performs in the tournament.
Runners Up- Pakistan
The team has its strength in the bowling department. What Australia pitches have to offer, they have the best players to get the best out of it. We have seen them being lethal in the Indian subcontinent. To see them work through fast pitches will be even more interesting. To back the batting, they have world-class Babar-Rizwan who has maintained supremacy in the ranking. They will be the front runner in the race of Who Will Win T20 World Cup 2022.
Winners- Australia
At the time, Australia looks like the most balanced side. The team has quality power-hitters who are also their openers. They have amongst the best finishers in the game. They are playing in their home so conditions are favorable to them. The bowling unit is the best in the world that can get the best out of the Australian pitches. This is definitely a team to watchout for.
The team is in Group A which is a group of giants. It has England, New Zealand and booming teams like Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. To see them coming through such tough competition will be interesting.
