As the deadline to announce T20I World Cup team by the respective boards is falling closer, the selectors have intensified their search, with various cricket bodies began to unleash the names of their 15-member squad. Here in this article, we talk about South Africa Squad For T20I World Cup.

On Tuesday, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced its team in which Rassie van der Dussen was not included in the team considering his ailing finger injury. This development can be considered as a huge blow for the Proteas as Dussen’s role is going to be very crucial for the upcoming international series.

CSA Convenor of Selectors Victor Mpitsang told newsmen that: “This has been a really tough squad to select, simply because we had so many players in excellent form over the past few months and performing at a level that made the selectors sit up and notice them”.

The news about Temba Bavuma’s back into the team as captain could be a respite. His captainship proved to be very successful for South Africa in the recently concluded matches.

The 22-year-old Tristan Stubbs found a great opportunity where he called up to join his maiden World Cup series following an impressive outing in the recent T20I series against England.

“Someone like Tristan Stubbs who was not in the frame a year ago has done incredibly well to force his way into the mix based on his performances and his selection should be an inspiration for every young player out there. We are also delighted to welcome back our captain Temba Bavuma from injury and we have no doubt his return will further galvanise the team,” ICC official website quoted him as saying.

He further said that this group of players showed off their brilliant skill and talent when they overcame England in England recently. “These sort of performances only bode well for us heading to the World Cup. Overall we are delighted with mix of players that have been chosen and look forward to watching them represent the country in Australia,” he added.

The other key players who are included in the team are Rilee Rossouw and Wayne Parnell. The team also consists of three travelling reserves and they are Bjorn Fortuin, Marco Jasen and Andile Phehlukwayo.
