IPL 2025 New Schedule Announced: Full Fixtures and New Venues
IPL 2025 New Schedule Announced: The Indian Premier League 2025 is officially set to resume on May 17, with the final match scheduled for June 3. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the revised schedule following a brief suspension of the tournament.
This highly anticipated update comes after border tensions between India and Pakistan forced the league to pause its matches temporarily. With the announcement of a ceasefire, the BCCI quickly consulted with government officials to get the tournament back on track, much to the delight of cricket fans worldwide.
The action-packed restart will kick off in Bengaluru, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face off against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday.
The weekend will continue with a double-header on Sunday, featuring Rajasthan Royals versus Punjab Kings in Jaipur during the afternoon, followed by Delhi Capitals taking on Gujarat Titans in Delhi that evening. These thrilling fixtures promise to reignite the competitive spirit of the IPL and bring fans back into the fold.
The revised schedule outlines that the remaining league matches will be played across six major venues that are Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad.
While there was initial speculation that the games might be held in southern cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru only, the BCCI ultimately decided to broaden the location list. This decision was made to ensure smoother operations and better access for fans and teams alike.
Notably, the playoff venues are yet to be finalized. However, the BCCI has locked in the playoff dates. Qualifier 1 will be played on May 29, followed by the Eliminator on May 30. Qualifier 2 is scheduled for June 1, and the grand final will take place on June 3.
A significant change in the updated schedule involves the rescheduling of the interrupted match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. This fixture, which was halted midway on May 8, will now be played in Jaipur on May 24. Furthermore, Punjab Kings will play all their remaining matches in Jaipur.
One disappointment for fans is that Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will not play their remaining home matches at their original home grounds. Instead, CSK will face Rajasthan Royals in Delhi on May 20, and SRH will play Kolkata Knight Riders in the same city on May 25. Unfortunately, both teams are already out of the playoff race.
