Jasprit Bumrah officially out of World Cup with back injury

The star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been officially ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

The BCCI announced that the decision was taken after a thorough assessment and in discussion with the experts.

There were some speculation for some days that the pacer would miss the marquee event in Australia this year and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the same on Monday.

The right-arm fast bowler is the second most crucial player of the Indian side who miss the mega event after all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Bumrah’s sudden injury comes as a big blow for the men in blue, who were seen some problem during the death overs for the past the few matches.

India in Asia Cup 2022

Given that, India knocked out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to poor bowling show at the continental event. The bowlers failed to defend 182 against Pakistan and 174 against Sri Lanka and made an exit from the competition.

In his absence, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was handling the fast-bowling department. Alongside him, were Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Deepak Chahar (played only the last game).

Almost same bowling line-up will represent the Indian side in the T20 World Cup. As Bhuvneshwar Kumar again will lead the bowling unit alongside Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel.

While Mohammad Shami and Deepak Chahar are on standby list. And Deepak Chahar, who is performing well in the ongoing T20 series against South Africa will most likely to replace Bumrah in the World Cup.

While the name of Mohammad Siraj is also making buzz, who recently included in the Indian side in place of Bumrah for the T20 series against South Africa.

Bumrah’s Comeback

Bumrah, previously missed the whole Asia Cup 2022 due to injury. And then made a comeback in the India side for the home series against Australia.

He missed the first T20Is, but played the final two games. In those he was seen a bit clueless and gave 23 for 1 in 2 overs in the second game. And 50 for 0 in the third T20I.

The full-strength Indian side after playing the final T20I of the series against South Africa on Tuesday will directly travel to Australia as part of their World Cup preparation.

The Rohit-led side will have to play warm-up games, one against Australia on October 17. While the second against New Zealand on October 19, both at Gabba before their World Cup campaign.

India will play their first match of T20 World Cup 2022 against Pakistan on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
