Team India’s most experienced player in terms of career, Dinesh Karthik, who returned back to the Indian side after long and got the chance to play for India in T20 World Cup now in dilemma to feature in India’s upcoming game due to back injury. Let us look into the details of Dinesh Karthik injury.

The 37-year-old, who was part of team India in clash against South Africa on Sunday. Left the field due to back injury and his position to play on Wednesday is in doubt.

Playing over Pant in the side, the veteran faced a dreary tournament so far with the bat. He failed to score 2 runs in a big game against Pakistan on Sunday and got out. However, Ashwin did it for India and the men in blue won that match.

While the second time he got the chance to bat, he only managed to score 6 runs off 15 balls at a crucial time. India were struggling in the game with 49 for 5. And he was unable to rescue the side, although he was there in a 52-run stand alongside Suryakumar, but his contribution was only 6 in that partnership.

He was seen struggling to cope with pace, bounce and the swing at the Perth Stadium.

India only scored 133 against South Africa 

India only managed to put 133 on board, and later failed to defend too. As a result they witnessed their first loss in the tournament.

During South Africa’s batting, Karthik was seen writhing in pain at the end of 15th over. He then left the field while holding his back.

The exact reason behind his injury is still unknown it mostly like back spasms which may happen at sometimes because of cold weather in Perth.

Later, Indian bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar confirmed the news regarding Dinesh Karthik injury.

“I know he had some back issue. The physio will give a report and we will have more clarity after that,” Bhuvneshwar said during the post-match media conference.

With a 5-wicket loss to South Africa, the Rohit Sharma-led side now slipped to second spot at the points table, their chances to qualify for the semis are still though.

India, who started their campaign with a solid win over Pakistan, maintained their momentum by beating Netherlands in the next match. But South Africa on Sunday stopped the men in blues dream run that put the Rohit’s team in dilemma ahead of the upcoming clashes.

Matches ahead are also not that tough, considering India to play against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

The men in blue will next play against Bangladesh at Adelaide on November 2. And Karthik’s availability will depend on recovery as the next match is in 72 hours.

When he left the field during India’s defend, Rishabh Pant kept the wickets for the final five overs.
