On this day in 2015, England reclaimed the Ashes title by defeating Australia in the fourth match to take a 3-1 lead in the series.

The victory tasted sweeter as it was earned in just 2 days. They took their revenge of the humiliating 5-0 defeat they faced in the 2013 Ashes.

The start of the match was very dramatic as one of the most consistent and dominating sides batting line up fell like cards in the first innings as after accepting the inviting too bat first Australia were bowled out for just 60.

It was England and’s speedster Stuart Broad, who did all damage and took 8 wickets out 10 as only Michael Clarke (10) and Mitchell Johnson (13) touched the double digit mark for Australia.

England too faced a tough start after losing two wickets early but they recovered well and went on to put 391 on board and declared the inning witch one wicket still in hand.

Joe Root was impressive in the first innings of England with his cracking 130, while Jonny Bairstow 70 set the tone for a huge total for England.

Trailing behind 331, Australia started their campaign on a good not with both openers Chris Rogers and David Warner added 13 for the first wicket. But as soon as Rogers (52) walked back, the visitors lost three wickets in just 23 runs, including Warner’s (64) crucial one.

Adam Voges (51) did try his level best and remained unbeaten, but due to lack of support from other end Australia failed to cross the 331 mark and lost the game by an innings and 78 runs.

The all-rounder Ben Stokes starred in the third innings of the game after taking six wickets to bowl out Australia for just 253.

Stuart Broad claimed the honour of receiving the player of the match award for his brilliant bowling effort in the first innings, where he took 6 key wickets of Australia and set a victory path in front of England.

With the win, England reclaimed the Ashes with a 3-1 lead in 5-match series.

Later, Australia won the fifth and final match, but England won the Ashes 2015 by 3-2.
