How England can still qualify for World Cup 2023 Semi-Finals?

The 2019 World Cup accidental champions, well some are calling them so largely due to their performance in the ongoing World Cup in India, are almost on the verge of getting knock out of the mega event.

Jos Buttler-led English side is currently sitting in the last spot with just a win in their six outings, which no expected before the start of the tournament.

Their latest defeat came against the host nation India. English bowlers did their job in the game by restricting the mighty Indian team to 229 for 9, but the batters again failed and didn’t even able to chase 230.

And their fourth loss in a row now hung the chances to qualify for the semis in a nutshell. They, however, can still qualify, the possibility is less, but with some comeback cricket and waiting for other teams’ results, England may book the berth.

England’s journey so far in the World Cup 2023

One of the pre-tournament favourites started their campaign against the last edition’s runners-up, New Zealand, which the latter made a one sider affair with a nine-wicket win in a 280-plus run chase.

England won their second game against Bangladesh that gave the side some confidence. But what happened next, was the nightmare for the British team fans.

The defending champions lost their four games in a row, with the most shocking one remained against Afghanistan by 69 runs.

They lost the game against South Africa by a record-margin of 229 runs, next against Sri Lanka by 8 wickets, and lost to India by 100 runs.

Their next is now a do or die game, which is against the big fish Australia on October 4, and a loss in that game will end England’s World Cup.
