Steve Smith questions ‘Bazball’ longevity

After winning four consecutive test games against the world giants many people are looking very impressed with England‘s new approach to cricket under the new head coach, Brendon McCullum, and new skipper Ben Stokes.

However on this, the former Australia captain Steve Smith wonders how long can they sustain this approach. Smith was overheard by reporters shouting ‘Bazball!’

Under this new approach, England first defeated the current World test champions New Zealand by chasing 277, 299 and 296 and claimed a white-wash against the Kiwis. Then they beat the mighty India by chased down any even bigger target of 378 in just 76.4 overs.

However, the member of fab-4 in the world cricket, Steve Smith, didn’t consider this approach as a big thing as he questioned its sustainability.

“The guys just keep joking about it. I think Ronnie (head coach Andrew McDonald) has had enough of hearing about Bazball to be honest. It’s good fun to joke about.” said Smith, according to cricket.com.au.

“It’s been exciting. I’m just intrigued to see how long it lasts, if it’s sustainable. If you come in on a wicket that’s got some grass on it and Josh Hazlewood, (Pat) Cummins, and (Mitchell) Starc are rolling in at you, is it going to be the same?

Smith, who is currently preparing for the second test against Sri Lanka, shared his thoughts on this trending Bazball thing after his net session.

Talking about the series, the visitors had defeated the Sri Lankan side by 10 wickets in the first test to take a 1-0 lead in a 2-match series.

In the first game, Steve Smith was didn’t able to create any magic as he got out on just 6 due to mis-judgement of taking run.

Earlier, Australia beat the Sri Lankan side in the T20 series by 2-1. While Sri Lanka took the revenge in ODI series and outshined the visitors by defeating them by 3-2.

The second test will take place at Galle International Stadium in Galle.
