Youngster Banned In New Zealand Venues For Abusing Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer Abuser gets banned

A 28-year-old guy, who abused Jofra Archer in the first test match between New Zealand and England match in November and also insulted him held at Mount Maunganui, has been banned from attending international and domestic cricket matches in New Zealand for 2 years.

Jofra Archer heard those comments after they lost the match by 65 runs against New Zealand. Archer reported those comments to stewards after the match got over. He also tweeted about this incident.

A complaint was filed against that person by going through CCTV footage and audio clips.

New Zealand Cricket spokesman responds to this issue.

Anthony Crummy apologized to Archer and the whole England team management for this incident. Archer thanked New Zealand Police for their help in identifying the accused.

Williamson Supports Archer

Jofra Archer felt this incident was disturbing him all the time. New Zealand skipper Williamson felt horrified and said these types of incidents won’t happen again. He also came down heavily on such incidents.

Racial Abuse is still a factor

Ashley Giles, Director of England Cricket, said Jofra Archer was playing his first overseas match at that time and faced racial abuse even in this era of modern cricket.

It’s a sad thing to see this type of thing happen in cricket in this new era. It was a good series for both the teams, one person would not ruin that. He has to be punished, he added.

New Zealand Cricket Board Responded on this issue

New Zealand cricket stated that the person who abused Archer was issued a ban until 2022. If that person violates the ban and is seen attending any cricket match in New Zealand, he will be subject to police action and severe actions will be taken against him.

I hope these types of incidents won’t happen in matches going forward, said the Director of England Cricket.
