Before MS Dhoni came into the picture, Indian management has tried to experiment with a lot of players as wicketkeepers – But after his arrival, things have changed drastically and the “Rest Is History”. MS Dhoni has not only solved the problem of wicketkeeping duty – but also went on to become the greatest skipper and earned the name of the best finisher in world cricket.

Dhoni was always known for backing his instance and he used to go forward confidently with his decisions. And surprisingly every single time his decisions were top notch and this has become one of the main driving formulas for his success.

Former India batsman Aakash Chopra has remembered an incident where young Dhoni has refused to take his advice during an India A tour and said – “I want to take you back to the 2004 A tour of Kenya and Zimbabwe. MS Dhoni was also part of that tour and I distinctly remember Dhoni bowling to you in the nets. Because he was my roommate, I told Dhoni ‘don’t bowl to him (Karthik), he is your competition. And if you want to bowl, at least bat. What are you doing? He will play for India, he is almost there, sometimes you need to also play’. But Dhoni said, ‘no, no, I want to bowl’,”

Even Dinesh Karthik has also spoken about Dhoni and expressed that – ‘ He has took the complete country by storm’

DK has also said – “When Dhoni came in, he took the complete country by storm and I knew that door was closed. Keeper-batsman is always a decade-long job. Syed Kirmani was there, then Kiran More. Dhoni was a once-in-a-generation kind of a cricketer. Take Ian Healy or Adam Gilchrist, if you are a good keeper, you are there for 10-12 years.”
