Women’s Asia Cup 2022: All You Need to Know

Women’s Asia Cup 2022 Match Details:

The Asian Cricket Council will host the eighth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup in 2022, which will feature women playing T20 format. It will occur in Sylhet, Bangladesh, from October 1 and October 16, 2022. Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and United Arab Emirates will compete in the competition. The ACC released the tournament’s schedule on September 20, 2022.  Bangladesh is the reigning champion after defeating India by three wickets in the championship match of the previous year’s competition. The UAE and Malaysia entered the competition by winning the ACC Women’s T20 Championship in 2022, which was held in Malaysia in June of that year.

Where Women’s Asia Cup 2022 is taking place?

Bangladesh will play host to all matches, which will be held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. It is the first time women’s international matches are being played in the country. Since Pakistan’s tour in October 2018. It is also the first time since the 2014 T20 World Cup that Sylhet will play host to women’s internationals.

In which format will the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 take place?

Seven teams will compete to win the championship. A round-robin format will feature matches between Bangladesh’s hosts, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates. The top four teams will advance to the two semi-finals after each team plays six matches, making this the longest Asia Cup for women ever. The top two teams from the league stage immediately competed in the championship in each of the previous two events, which included six teams each.

In 2012, the Women’s Asia Cup was played for the first time in the T20 format. The most recent event took place in 2018. whereas the one that was originally scheduled to take place in Bangladesh in 2020 was initially moved to 2021 before being completely scrapped because of the Covid-19 epidemic. The T20 Asia Cup will therefore be held for the fourth time in 2022 and for a total of eight times if the four 50-over matches from 2004 through 2008 are included.

India vs. Pakistan becomes a foregone conclusion if it’s an Asia Cup. On October 7, the two teams will clash.
