IPL 2021: What does the future hold for the tournament?

Ashwin said that he wants to be with his family during the difficult COVID-19 period. Tye, Richardson and Zampa want to return to their country before Australia announces a lockdown. The main question which arises after the recent turn of events is that “Will BCCI cancel the ongoing  IPL season?” The answer is ‘No’ for now. IPL is scheduled to continue as it was planned before. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly previously said 2021 going ahead as per schedule.
However, the board will be forced to cancel or suspend the league if the cases of Coronavirus rises in the country and if it reaches the players. More international players, especially the Australians, might leave for their country looking at the current COVID-19 situation in India. If that happens, then the BCCI will have no option left but to push the league forward. A large part of Netizens is criticizing the cash-rich league on Twitter and other social media platforms. However, IPL remains the prime source of entertainment for the millions of Indians who are locked inside their homes.
