Why did Bangladesh is given more time to name their Asia Cup team?

The announcement of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s final Asia Cup squad was postponed due to concerns about injuries, but the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has granted them an extension to do so.

The Asia Cup squad must be revealed by August 8; however, BCB asked the ACC to grant them an extension because they are still awaiting medical reports from a number of players.

The chairman of the BCB cricket operation, Jalal Yunus, said on Saturday that the long injury list had put the team “on the back foot.” “We requested the ACC to give some more time to finalise our squad and they have accepted it,” Yunus said.
As a result of their injuries, Litton Das and Nurul Hasan are no longer able to participate in the current tour of Zimbabwe and, unless they make a full recovery by the deadline, they don’t appear to have a chance of competing in the Asia Cup.

If Nurul’s health doesn’t necessitate surgery on his finger, he may make a last-minute cut while in Singapore getting his condition evaluated.

Though it is stated that Litton needs four weeks to heal from his hamstring injury, team management is still not ready to rule him out. His chances of making the Asia Cup team are quite small.

Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mushfiqur Rahim are the other athletes on the injured list (knee). In addition to them, Yasir Ali and Mohammad Saifuddin, who were disqualified from the Zimbabwe tour, would also need to pass the fitness test in order to be chosen.

“We are awaiting the medical assessment before finalizing the team. The team must be submitted by August 11 at the latest “Jalal tacked on.

In addition to potential injury issues, Bangladesh must choose their T20I captain for the Asia Cup and the next T20 World Cup. The front-runner, Shakib al Hasan, needs to explain his stance to the board on his most recent sponsorship agreement with Betwinner News.

The president of the BCB board recently stated that they had four alternatives, albeit one of them has shown reluctance to assume the leadership.

Following Nurul’s injury, Litton had previously been asked to assume the captain’s role for the Zimbabwe T20Is, but he turned down the offer, claiming a desire to focus on his batting. Along with the trio, Mahmudullah is vying for the job, despite claims to the contrary from certain BCB insiders.
