Adelaide Strikers’ Suzie Bates is set to miss the remainder part of the WBBL 2020. This comes after the New Zealand all-rounder injured her right shoulder during Adelaide Strikers’ clash against Melbourne Stars earlier last week. This is the second time in two months that Suzie Bates has been down with a shoulder injury. The 33-year-old earlier picked a similar injury during New Zealand’s ODI series against Australia in October 2020.
Great start from the skip @megan_schutt and the @StrikersBBL team today and outstanding contributions from these 3 in blue for the first time 💙 https://t.co/5MDiCiqqG2

Suzie Bates is motivated to make a strong “come-back”
New Zealand cricket’s medical manager Datke Shackel, along with Adelaide Strikers’ medical staff reportedly came up with a decision to advise Suzie Bates to undergo surgery. Suzie Bates will return to New Zealand to carry-on with her surgery. Suzie Bates stated that being out of the tournament is very difficult news for her to cope up with.
“For me, it’s about taking this process one step at a time. The first step is successful surgery. Once that’s done, I can then turn my mind to rehabilitation and the ultimate goal of getting back on the park as soon as possible. There’s also the carrot of playing at home in the Women’s World Cup in 2022 to keep me motivated throughout the process,” added Bates.
🗣️ “As a cricketer you want to be fit and playing all the time, so to face a decent stint on the sidelines is tough news.”

WBBL’s list of injured NZ players
Suzie Bates, in a recent interview, stated that it will take her between six to nine months to fully recover after the surgery. She is hoping to undergo the surgery during mid-December following the compulsory isolation period after returning to New Zealand.
Suzie Bates’ New Zealand counterpart Sophie Devine will be out of the Perth Scorchers squad in their clash against the Stars on Tuesday. Devine reportedly picked up a back injury during Scorchers’ meeting against the Sydney Thunder on Sunday.
