Virat Should Give Up Captaincy In All Formats: Shahid Afridi

Team Indian captain Virat Kohli has stepped down from T20I captaincy responsibilities in order to manage his workloads, and in a similar turn of events, Rohit Sharma has been named as T20I captain for the forthcoming New Zealand series. In response to the same occurrences, former Pakistan player Shahid Afridi praised the BCCI’s decision.

Shahid shared his thoughts on playing with hitman during his time with the Deccan Chargers (IPL). According to the former Pakistan cricketer, Rohit Sharma is an amazing player who excels at the short selection. On the field, he is an ideal balance of composure and aggressiveness.

As far as Rohit is concerned, this was on the cards. I have played with him for a year (at Deccan Chargers). He is an outstanding player with a terrific shot selection. He stays relaxed where required and shows aggression when needed to as well. We will see both sides. As I said, this captaincy move was bound to happen. He should definitely be given a chance”, said Afridi.

Virat will enjoy his cricket and batting because captaining a team is not easy: shahid Afridi

As the debate progressed, Afridi made considerable statements against Virat Kohli. He went on to say that Kohli should resume his international career as a player and give up responsibility in the other two forms (ODI & Test) as well. The 44-year-old noted that captaincy is not a simple role, especially in nations like India and Pakistan, and that everything goes smoothly as long as captaincy is going properly.

I think Virat should take the decision to continue as only a player. There will be relatively less pressure, he has played plenty of cricket too. He will enjoy his cricket and batting because captaining a team is not easy, especially in countries like India and Pakistan. As long as you are captaining well, things go smooth, shahid Afridi added.
