Tamil Nadu Premier League was severely hit by the charges of betting and fixing. Recently, they have concluded their 4th successive season in August 2019, but a big issue is seen hidden behind it.
Further, all the team owners and management members have been bought under inquiry after the claims made by some players and with the death of one of the team, owners have drawn through the illegal claims.
In the recent police investigation, it has been found that there is something between VB Chandrasekhar’s suicide and the betting during the TNPL 2019. A police source has found the possible betting racquets during an inspection with close friends of VB and cricketers of the state.
The BCCI Anti-corruption Unit (ACU), yesterday confirmed that a few TNPL players were approached for match-fixing.
“During the TNPL, some players were being approached for fixing but they reported the Anti Corruption Unit at that very moment, which led to an immediate inquiry and ACU is searching out the people who approached the players for such illegal activity,” – ACU chief Ajit Singh said.
The TNPL governing council chairman, PS Raman has confirmed that a complaint against alleged malpractices in the league was brought to the notice during the event, which forced them to investigate into this issue but they are not open to disclose the details until the findings of the report are submitted.
RI Palani the joint secretary of TNCA, has rejected all alleged match-fixing claims, saying that they weren’t made aware of any such incident, However, on the ACU’s saying that the players have been approached, TNCA will certainly want to see those reports.
