Usman Khawaja Tells To Treat The Corona Pandemic Seriously

Usman Khawaja: “The Threat Should Be Taken Seriously”

Australian batsman Usman Khawaja has joined other cricketers in raising his voice in fighting against the dreadful coronavirus.

He said that the issue of coronavirus should be dealt with seriously and we should think about others, especially the elders.

The 33-year-old left-handed batsman tweeted,” The more seriously we take it, then hopefully, the quicker we can get through it and the less amount of lives that are affected both medically and financially. We need to think about others, not just ourselves.”

He also expressed concerns over the social and economical impact the disease would have on many lives.

He wrote,” Just because the mortality rates for Covid-19 for many isn’t high, doesn’t mean you should have a blasé attitude. It’s our responsibility as a society to think about the elderly and the social and economical cost this will have on so many lives. We all need to do our part.”

Sports One Of The Biggest Casualties Of The Pandemic

Almost all the sports events in the world have come to standstill due to the health crisis caused by the virus.

Australian cricket is no exception and has been hit hard by the outbreak of the pandemic. The country has canceled its ODI series against New Zealand at home, where it had to play 3 matches, just after the first match.

Furthermore, a 3 match T20 series against New Zealand to be played in New Zealand was postponed indefinitely.

Moreover, there have been reports that the participation of Australians in IPL has become doubtful as the Cricket Australia advised them to avoid it, due to corona fears, though the cricketing board clarified that it will not direct them officially and it is up to them to make up their minds.

The Australian Prime Minister has imposed a ban on its citizens from traveling abroad with few exceptions.

The deadly virus has spread to nearly 230000 people and leads to the death of 10,000 of them across the world.
