On the final day of the one-off Test match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the rain has made many hurdles in the play. Even though rain couldn’t grab Afghanistan’s hopes for the major part of the day. Later on, the rain has made it’s way out and allowed the visitors to pick the remaining four Bangladesh wickets that gave them their maiden overseas Test win.
Skipper Rashid Khan, who made an intent in the match with his five picks in the first innings also added 50 runs to the score. He was awarded as the player of the match where he picked three of the last four wickets, to give teammate Mohammad Nabi a memorable send-off in his farewell Test.
The rain came to rescue Bangladesh on the fifth morning in Chattogram, with not even a single delivery being bowled in the first session. Finally, they started the match at around 1:00 PM local time where Bangladesh had to bat only 13 deliveries against Afghanistan. The last thing Test cricket’s newest entrants needed to be a damp end to a game that they had completely dominated. In the end, the play did restart at 4.20 PM local time with a minimum of 19 overs scheduled to be bowled.
After the resume of the game, Shakib Al Hasan fell for the first ball by Zahir Khan, only managing to get an outside edge. Later, Soumya Sarkar fetched a couple of boundaries but the real focus was on batting out time. Mehidy Hasan who managed to stay in the creases was got rid by Rashid with a googly that trapped him with leg-before-wicket.
After the two middle-order batters were caught in the field, Nabi was introduced into the attack but it was Rashid who continued to dismiss the hosts. It went on with the favor of Afghans as Taijul Islam clearly trapped with leg-before-wicket. With the hosts having no reviews left, Afghanistan moved a step closer to victory.
Finally, Sarkar who made a massive error in the judgment in the last five overs of play was once again dismissed by Rashid where he picked a total of 11 wickets in both the innings. It was the Afghans third ever test match where they have made a 224-run win in Bangladesh’s own backyard.

Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by 224 runs.
Rashid Khan had an excellent Test match. In his first Test as a captain he took 11 wickets and also scored a fifty. No one had ever taken 10 wickets in his first Test as a captain#BANvAFG— Sarang Bhalerao (@bhaleraosarang) September 9, 2019
The hero of Afghanistan. 20 years old. Leading their nation for the first time in tests. 75 runs. 11 wickets. King Rashid Khan. #BANvAFG pic.twitter.com/nlhg9Np8Vl

Remember watching Rashid bowl in his first Test match and people being all skeptical about him bowling with the red ball and saying that he might not be cut out for the longest format.
Here he is now leading his team to a glorious Test win as captain. Brilliant! #BANvAFG

Afghanistan win an overseas Test in their third Test.
England had done it in their second, Australia had done it in their second…others?#BANvAFG

Shakib was disappointed with the wicket, hope he is more disappointed with how Bangladesh need a deck to win at home. Grow your skills, home advantage is fine but if it is like this, can come back to bite you. The rivalry grows between them and Afghanistan.

Captains scoring a fifty and taking 10+ wickets in a Test match:
Imran Khan (117 & 11/117) v Ind, Faisalabad, 1983
Allan Border (75 & 11/91) v WI, SCG, 1989
Rashid Khan (51 & 11/104) v Ban, Chattogram, 2019

Just brilliant from Afghanistan. Had 18.3 overs to get 4 wickets with 2 batsmen and did it with overs to spare. Magnificent game for @rashidkhan_19 but how good was everyone else. Their great story continues.
